Update from November 16, 2020

Nov 16, 2020 | Blog

On November 7, 2020, the Provincial Health Officer (PHO) issued a new order for all individuals, places of work and businesses within the Vancouver Coastal Health and Fraser Health regions to significantly reduce social interactions (except for the Central Coast Regional District and Bella Coola Valley). The order is in effect until November 23, 2020 at 12:00 pm.

Registrants working in these health regions should review the new guidance for this order and ensure their workplace is safe.

On November 11, 2020, the PHO provided additional information to BC health regulators, confirming the scope of the Provincial Mask Use Policy that was addressed to Health Authority CEOs. The Policy, which mandated medical masks, does not apply to allied health practitioners, such as dietitians, in community settings.

The College encourages registrants who work in the Fraser Health and Vancouver Coastal Health regions to review, update and rigorously follow COVID-19 Safety Plans, including preventative steps such as patient screening, maintaining appropriate distancing, and the use of non-medical masks for all patients, staff and visitors. Virtual care is still strongly encouraged whenever appropriate and possible.

Any questions on the application of these rules to your practice should be directed to the BC Centre for Disease Control and WorkSafeBC. This CDBC update will be added to the CDBC COVID-19 news page.
