Earlier this year, the CDBC Board of Directors agreed that we need to do more to ensure our organization is welcoming and better reflects the diversity of the dietitians we regulate and the BC public we serve. Recent events of Indigenous-specific abuse and discrimination in BC and elsewhere in Canada have brought this commitment even more to the forefront. The College of Dietitians of BC has been working diligently to evaluate and reflect on its role and responsibilities in upholding equity, diversity and inclusion while also meeting its commitment to making the BC health system more culturally safe for Indigenous Peoples.
Our goal is to identify impactful, sustainable strategies and concrete actions that will enable our College to improve how we serve the public, registrants and other partners in healthcare and prevent systemic discrimination, including systemic racism.
Our approach will follow principles of right-touch regulation, where strategies and actions will be informed by findings and recommendations set out in various reports that demonstrate how our registrants and members of the public may experience discrimination.
We are excited to launch the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion survey. Collecting data to inform this work is very important. We encourage you to participate so we can better capture the most meaningful and representative perspective of all BC Dietitians. Please also promote the survey to your colleagues so the data collected is representative and inclusive.
What to Expect
Registrants will receive a survey invitation on October 27, 2020, which will include a link to the survey. The email will come from HRx Technology (HRx), the Canadian-based partner agency helping the CDBC to conduct the survey.
The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Registrants will have until November 18, 2020 to respond.
