Alliance of Canadian Dietetic Regulatory Bodies

The Alliance of Canadian Dietetic Regulatory Bodies is a national organization composed of ten equal and independent members who represent the provincial dietetic regulatory authorities. Representatives are Registrars or Chairs of the provincial Board or Council. The purpose of the organization is to:

  • Share information and perspectives.
  • Undertake initiatives to advance dietetic regulation in Canada.
  • Develop and implement competency based assessments for registration.
  • Maintain and administer the Canadian Dietetic Registration Examination (CDRE).
  • Facilitate labour mobility through the Labour Mobility Framework.
  • Act as the contact point for external groups on matters related to the regulation of dietitians in Canada.


 Alliance members meet monthly by teleconference. Members last met in-person on June 7-8 in St. John. The following items were discussed:

  • Partnership for Dietetic Education and Practice (PDEP)
  • National Dysphagia project
  • Canadian Dietetic Registration Examination
  • Canadian English Language Benchmarking for Dietitians
  • National strategies to address issues with Registered Holistic Nutritionists and environmental scan of scope of practice 
  • Reciprocity agreements with the US Commission on Dietetic Regulation and the Dietetic Association of Australia

 The next in-person meeting is scheduled for October 17-18, 2017 in Toronto.
