Welcome to the College of Dietitians of British Columbia

The titles "Dietitian" and "Registered Dietitian" are protected by law.  Only qualified health professionals, who are registered with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia, may use these titles and practice as Dietitians in BC.

The College of Dietitians of British Columbia was established on November 2, 2002 under the Health Professions Act through enactment of the Dietitians Regulation. College bylaws were approved by the provincial government on December 11, 2003 and on April 1, 2004 the College became the legal authority for the regulation of Dietitians in British Columbia.

Under the Health Professions Act, the mandate of the College of Dietitians of BC is to protect the BC public by regulating Dietitians to practice safely, ethically and competently. The College achieves this through fulfilling its Vision, Mission and Values Statements.

If you wish to be “removed in good standing” from the CDBC Register, please sign into your CDBC account and select "Not Renewing".

Please remember your registration will remain effective until March 31 and you will continue receiving CDBC correspondence until your registration expires. If your resignation is temporary and you plan to reinstate your registration with the College in a near future, please review the Reinstatement Bylaws (sections 49-52) and the Reinstatement Guidelines before deciding to resign.

Since April 1, 2009, the College of Dietitians of British Columbia (CDBC) registers Dietitians who are currently registered in good standing in another jurisdiction in Canada in accordance with the provisions of the Canada Free Trade Agreement and the BC/Alberta Trade, Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement (TILMA). This process also applies to former CDBC Registered Dietitians who are currently registered in good standing with another jurisdiction in Canada and want to reinstate with the CDBC.

Registration with the CDBC remains a requirement for all dietitians who wish to practice in British Columbia. Dietitians registered in good standing in BC wishing to move to another province may request the College send their registration documents to another Canadian jurisdiction to facilitate the application process.

Dietitians from other Canadian jurisdictions who wish to register in BC should contact the CDBC office to inquire about the process.
